I believe cutting film is like performing magic: direct the audience's attention so that by the end, they feel exactly what you want them to feel -- astonishment, enlightenment, fear, or satisfaction.
Hello, my name is Mikey, a previously home educated screen editor and student of the Australian Film Television and Radio School.
Let me tell you a little about my second home, the cutting room, where I’ve honed my skills while studying for my degree. Here I seek stories that compel audiences to jump into the shoes of authentic characters. Through the craft of editing, I found a love of shaping the emotions, rhythms and continuity surrounding these characters, all while building strong relationships with the director’s vision - something I prioritise above all else.

Throughout my degree I have experienced the many editing challenges across drama series, narrative shorts, and I developed a particular fondness for documentary. In 2020 I screened my first short doco Rescuing Huey at the Geelong Independent Film Festival. Last year I was assistant editor on a long-form branded content for Breville Coffee Machines, after which I began post production on two major graduating films, Life With Bats, directed by David Luff and Like mum used to make, directed by Britt Jessup.
